Local top seed Chou Tien Chen defeated ninth-seeded countryman Lin Yu Hsien to reach the semi-finals of the Chinese Taipei Open on Friday.

Chinese Taipei's CFriday.hou needed just 39 minutes to defeat Lin 21-16, 21-15 for his second ever victory against his countryman in two encounters.

Second seed Tzu Wei Wang of Chinese Taipei needed 68 minutes on court to defeat Thai 13th seed Suppanyu Avihingsanon 21-8, 19-21, 21-11.

In women's singles quarter-final results, Malaysian third seed Goh Jin Wei cruised past hometown's Pai Yu Po 21-15, 21-17 in 45 minutes to set up a semi-final clash against Japan's Haruko Suzuki, who beat Korea Republic's Ga Eun Kim 21-8, 21-17.

Qualifier Natsumi Shimoda of Japan beat Chinese Taipei's Shuo Yun Sung 21-19, 21-13 to set up a clash against countryman Saena Kawakami after she downed  Na Yeong Kim of the Korea Republic 21-16, 21-11.
