Room for Improvement: Former Champions Kashima & Guangzhou must step up

Here are a few more of Tuesday's East Zone results.

Group E: Persipura Jayapura 0-0 Maziya Sports & Recreation Club
Indonesia's Persipura Jayapura are close to qualifying for the last 16 of the AFC Cup after a goalless draw at Mandala Stadium with Maldivian side Maziya Sports & Recreation Club. Persipura were without a few players due to suspension and injuries but held out for the draw.

Despite the result, Persipura still top the group on 10 points and are followed by Bengaluru with 9 points. Maziya remain in third place on 4 points followed by Warriors FC with zero points. 


Group E: Warriors FC 0-1 JSW Bengaluru FC
Singapore's Warriors FC remain bottom of the group after losing 0-1 against India's Bengaluru at Jalan Besar Stadium in Singapore. The goal was scored Robin Singh in the 76th minute when he hammered a powerful shot into the bottom right corner for the winning goal.

With two games to go Warriors are still without a point and bottom of the group while Bengaluru are second on 9 points, one point off group leaders Persipura Jayapura on 10.


Group F: Kingfisher East Bengal 3-0 Balestier Khalsa FC
Bengal ran out comfortable 3-0 winners against Singapore side Khalsa at Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan Stadium.

The goals were scored by Baldeep Singh Jnr. in the 22nd minute,  Nurullah Hussein in the 71st minute and Ranty Martins in the 75th minute.

The result sees Bengal third on the table with four points followed by Khalsa with three points.


Group F: Johor Darul Ta'zim 2-0 Kitchee

Malaysian side Johor Darul Ta'zim beat Hong Kong outfit Kitchee 2-0 at Tan Sri Dato' Hj Hassan Yunos Stadium.

The home side had the game in the bag after scoring twice during the first-half. Argentine attacker Gabriel Figueroa Herrera scored in the 18th minute and Safiq Rahim got the second in the 44th minute.

The win has Johor top of the table with nine points followed by Kitchee on seven points.
