Crutchlow had challenged Marc Marque for a spot atop the timesheets during practice, only to finish in a hugely disappointing seventh position come race day.
The Briton could not hide his frustration in the wake of the race.
“I'm really, really disappointed. I believe I should have been able to battle at the front but I never had a good feeling with the bike,” he said..
“I got a really bad start, ran really wide and was at the back of the group then got caught up in the crash with Redding and Espargaro. Me and Iannone lost four seconds, then as we know it's difficult to come back across that gap."
Heading to this weekend's race in Argentina, Crutchlow, who missed last year's debut race in Argentina due to injury, has called on his team to up their game.
“The whole CWM LCR Honda team needs to regroup now and come back to the next race stronger as we were too far behind the winner today," he asserted.
"We need to discuss a plan for Argentina which is a track I have never raced at before, but I am looking forward to it.”
