Denmark’s Viktor Axelsen and Japan’s Nozomi Okuhara won the mens singles and womens singles at the World Championships in Glasgow on Sunday.
PV Sindhu and Okuhara fought tooth and nail in a brilliant ladies final that almost lasted two hours.
In the end, it was Okuhara who emerged victorious, winning 21-19, 20-22, 22-20.
Speaking afterwards, India’s Sindhu admitted she was devastated by the result.

“I am upset. In the third game, it was anybody’s game at 20-all. Everybody aims for gold and I was there very close but that last moment changed everything,” she said.

In the men’s final, Axelsen beat the legendary Lin Dan 22-20, 21-16 in what was a major upset.
