Stiles eyeing Wallabies role

Colin Cowherd knows exactly how No. 3 Notre Dame and No. 12 Syracuse will end on Saturday

Sacked Queensland Reds coach Nick Stiles has expressed an interest in replacing departing Wallabies forwards coach Mario Ledesma.

Ledesma will return home to take over at Argentine Super Rugby outfit the Jaguares while Brad Thorn will replace Stiles at the Reds.

However, former Wallabies prop Stiles, who has previously enjoyed stints as a forward coach for the Reds and Western Force, has revealed his desire to take over as forwards coach for the national team.

“I think what I was able to achieve as a forwards coach at both the (Western) Force and the Reds is proof of that,” the 43-year-old told the Australian Rugby Union website (

”If the opportunity was to come up, I’d love to be part of what the Wallabies are building.

“They’re clearly on their way to bigger and better things and I feel like I could contribute to that moving forward.”

The Wallabies moved up to third in the world rankings above the Springboks after defeating Argentina away on Saturday.
