Murray remains under injury cloud

Winning Italian Open “a little bit like a miracle” says Pliskova

Concerns are growing over Andy Murray’s state of readiness for the new season.

The Scot has not played a competitive match since Wimbledon because of a hip condition.

He is due to start his comeback at the Brisbane International in 11 days time, but is now delaying his departure to Australia.

Murray is currently continuing his training schedule with coach Jamie Delgado at the All England Club’s facilities in Wimbledon and Raynes Park.

He was originally due to travel to Australia before Christmas, but his recovery is taking longer than expected.

“My plan is to do a couple of weeks in Miami and then go to Australia very early, much earlier than I have done in the past,” he said at his exhibition event in Glasgow six weeks ago.

Murray remains on the entry list for Brisbane, although his participation in the event no longer seems a certainty, with some reports suggesting he is also in doubt for the Australian Open later next month.
