Despite this, Cannavaro believes that his side have the upper hand going into the match since they are playing on home soil.
However, with his side already having beaten FC Seoul 1-0 and Western Sydney Wanderers 3-2, Cannavaro is determined to keep Guangzhou's unbeaten streak alive.
But, he admitted that Kashima will be a very dangerous side since they are still on the hunt for their first win this season.
Kashima were beaten 3-1 by Western Sydney on February 25 and 1-0 by FC Seoul on March 4.
"This is a very important match for us," Cannavaro has been quoted as saying in the South China Morning Post. "We defeated Western Sydney and Seoul already, so in this game we hope to continue the winning journey."
