Fernandes: Ramsey the front-runner

On Board Camera 1 : MotoGP : Qualifying – Motul Grand Prix Of Japan

Ramsey was appointed as QPR head coach until the end of the season last week, three days after guiding the side to a 2-0 win at Sunderland ??? their first away points this season.

QPR had lined up Tim Sherwood to replace former manager Harry Redknapp only for the move to falter after terms could not be agreed between the two parties.

Fernandes then tweeted that he had found his ‘dream manager’, thought to have been Real Madrid assistant boss Paul Clement, before eventually appointing Ramsey for the remainder of the season.

And Fernandes insists Ramsey is in pole position to land the job permanently, irrespective of whether he can keep 17th placed QPR in the Premier League this season.

???When you???ve got someone like Chris Ramsey, I think the job is his for the taking and I don???t necessarily mean we have to stay up or whatever,??? Fernandes told Sky Sports.

???Obviously we want to stay up and if we stay up Chris is going to be there automatically but it???s his job for the taking.

???If you were in my position, what would you do? Look, if someone keeps us up now we would be nuts to change them, right?

???But even if we don???t stay up – and we???ve got to be real about it – I think Chris still could be the man that takes us to the Promised Land.???

Fernanades added: ???We spoke to about five people and no-one felt right at the time. One person did, and he was someone who I thought and still believe would be a dream manager for QPR.???
