Ducati targets race victories

Ducati are confident of challenging at the front of the grid again, after the covers were taken off their 2015 World Superbike Championship bike on Wednesday.

Following a disappointing 2013 season, Davies and Davide Giugliano secured six podiums between them for the Bologna-based squad last year, although they weren’t able to finish on the top step.

General manager Luigi Dall'Igna, though, is confident that they will have an even better season this time around.

"I hope it will be an exciting season," he said.

"Something has changed over the winter with the new rules.

"Now we have to prepare the bike for the new rules. I think Ducati will have some benefits from that because our starting point – the Panigale street bike – is really, really fast and so, with the small changes, we have a really good bike.

"Generally speaking, I think the best is the compromise between electronics, chassis and engines. This is really important because the compromise is one of the main steps to be able to achieve great results.

"Our aim for 2015, which is shared with our new partner Aruba, at this point can only be one: to win again and be protagonists in the championship this season."

Davies agreed with Dall'Igna, saying that he cannot wait to take the road at the season-opener in Australia.

"We’ve worked very well over the winter and I think that we’re on the right track so to speak," Davies said.

"I'm very confident about the upcoming season, and I am sure that we can fight for the positions that count every weekend. The new livery of the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati Superbike Team Panigale R bikes is really great and very aggressive and now I cannot wait to get on track in Australia for the first races of the 2015 season!"
