Busquets plays down Messi talk

‘A milestone for women’s football’ – Valverde on Barcelona women’s team

The Barcelona midfielder spoke out following reports which suggested the Argentine had fallen out with manager Luis Enrique.

Messi admitted at Monday???s Ballon d O???r ceremony, where he finished runner-up to Cristiano Ronaldo for the second year running, that he had no idea where he would finish his career.

When asked whether he might one day return to hometown club Newell’s Old Boys, Messi said: “I’m not sure what’s going to happen ??? if one day I’ll go back to Newell’s. I’m not sure where I’ll be next year!

“I’ve always said I’d like to finish my career at Barcelona, play at Newell’s, but nobody knows what the future holds ??? much less so in the case of the football world where so many things can change overnight.”

Busquets, however, has played down his team-mate???s comments and is no doubt he will stay with the Catalan club.

???He controls his future and he has said he has no intention of leaving – and that’s very important for us,??? Busquets??said on Barca???s website.

“All he was saying yesterday was the typical cliche that you never know what might happen in the future.

“People usually only know what they are told by the press but I think everyone has now had a chance to speak. We just want to be united, to be as one, and for the fans to be behind us.???
