Ortiz stripped of WBA title

Colin Cowherd knows exactly how No. 3 Notre Dame and No. 12 Syracuse will end on Saturday

Ortiz, a Cuban defector living in Miami, tested positive on September 11 after a first round knockout victory over Lateef Kayode.

The Nevada State Athletic Commission has suspended and fined Ortiz and had the result of the fight changed to a no contest which means that the fighter will lose his world title.

The commission suspended Ortiz for eight months from the date of the fight, he will be eligible to fight again May 11, and fined $8,000 (10 percent of his $80,000 purse).

The fighter will also have to perform 15 hours of community service aimed toward children with an anti-bullying message.

Gilberto Mendoza Jr. of the WBA, told ESPN.com that once it receives the paperwork from Nevada, Ortiz will be stripped of the belt, a move that likely will cost him hundreds of thousands of dollars.
