After not seeing much action the past 2 years, Majoy Baron has been the biggest revelation for La Salle in the UAAP Season 78 women’s volleyball tournament.
Baron, who has shown immense improvement and has been a vital cog in the Lady Spikers’ impressive run so far, said she believes their battle against rival Ateneo on Saturday will be an acid test for the team.
“Exciting,” she said. “Parang ito daw mag dedetermine nung fate namin for this whole season. Kung kaya pa namin, or kulang pa ba.”
“Walang pressure kaya mas masarap maglaro against Ateneo. Mas okay na ibibigay lang namin yung best namin sa next game.”
Admitting that the Taft crew still needs to work on a lot of things on their side, the middle spiker still hopes that La Salle will be able to lessen their errors, unlike in their game against UE last Sunday.
“Yung preparation namin, yun parin and mage-enjoy lang kami since yung pressure wala naman samin. Yung plan lang namin is mag-enjoy sa next game and smile lang like yung iba naming games.”
“Imi-minimize namin yung errors namin and this week siguro overload lang namin yung mga faults namin, yung mga lapses namin sa game na to,” she added.
As the Lady Eagles continue their 24-game winning streak, Baron is determined to break their opponents’ run.
“Hindi naman kami intimidated. Wala naman din kasi yung pressure samin,” she stressed.
“So gagawin lang namin yung best namin and yung preparations namin for the past few months, sana magtuloy-tuloy na and mas mag-peak pa yung mga performance namin for the next game hanggang 2nd round.” — By Joyce Palad
