Sunday’s MEGA Pride Ball at the Shangri-La The Fort is yet another proof that Mika Reyes can rock a wide array of beauty looks.
After coming as a voluptuous lady in red in 2015, the La Salle star’s look this year was a complete turnaround as she donned a white sweetheart dress complemented by her sparkly jewelry from JMA.
“This (dress) is from Kim Gan. ‘Yung plan nila sa dress ko, kasi last year fit talaga siya. This year, iniba nila. Ginawa nilang sweetheart ‘yung dating. Simple lang siya,” she told FOX Sports at the photo wall.
Indeed, the ensemble was a total opposite of her vampy look on her Pride Ball debut but it worked hugely because the styling represents her own personality: sweet and all-smiles.
Talking about the details of the garb that even boasted of trendy pockets, Reyes shares: “The beading is my favorite part kasi hand-made talaga ito ni Miss Kim Gan. Nung nag fitting kami ginagawa niya pa lang ito. Sobrang na-amaze ako na ginawa niya ito for me.”
On her second year in attendance, the ‘Taft Tower’ brought with her some of her younger teammates Kim Dy, Majoy Baron and Justine Tiu, introducing the young spikers to the fabulous annual event.
“Last year kasama ko mga seniors ko like sila Ate Michele (Gumabao) at Ate Mel (Gohing) tapos ngayon kasama ko naman mga bata. Parang ngayon ako naman ang nagdala sa kanila dito. It’s an extra honor na pati sa ganitong events nakakasama ko pa din sila,” she said.
Dubbed as #TheNewPH, the gala gave recognition to individuals and groups who were born and raised in the country but have achieved greatness in the international arena.
A proud Bulacan native who learned and honed her craft over the years from the ground up, Reyes, too, advocates for having pride as a nation.
“The New PH is recognizing the achievements of Filipinos all around the world just like Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach na nakuha ang crown. It’s about being proud of who we are as a nation,” said the 3-time UAAP champion.
With her UAAP days now behind her, Reyes will now be testing the waters in the club ranks as she joins F2 Logistics at the 2016 Philippine SuperLiga All-Filipino Conference.
Aside from her volleyball engagements, Reyes has also guested on a couple of TV shows and joined models on the ramp for a fashion show.
Asked if a showbiz career is looming on the horizon, the 5-foot-11 spiker shrugged and said she is open to many possibilities in her young career.
“As of now, hindi ko pa siya masasabi kasi ang hirap naman mag decide agad. Pero sabi ko nga before, I’m not closing my doors sa kung ano ang pwede kasi wala namang masama sa mag try,” Reyes shared, talking about possibly joining the entertainment industry.
“May mga workshop pero ngayon hindi pa ako maka-decide. Chill muna kasi gusto ko talaga mag vacation. Sa ngayon, ganito muna. Attend-attend ng events at siyempre maglalaro pa din ako,” she closed. — By Mac Dionisio
