The clamor for Majoy Baron to join the Binibining Pilipinas pageant reached fever-pitch when she stunned and turned a lot of heads during Sunday’s MEGA Pinoy Pride Ball at the Shangri-La The Fort.
Wearing a custom-made Jeffrey Rogador creation, Baron, who hails from Baguio, shed everything athletic about her for the night in exchange for smoky eyes, brushed up hair and an overall lady-like look, impressing the people at the event and the fans on social media.
But as it turns out, people telling the La Salle spiker to give the premiere beauty pageant in the country a try is something she has been used to even before she moved to Manila.
“Lagi nilang sinasabi na I should join. Ever since naman, high school pa lang ako, ‘yung mga relatives ko sinasabi na sumali ako since matangkad ako,” Baron told FOX Sports.
Though the reigning UAAP Best Blocker is not closing her doors on the possibility, it is something that would have to wait at least for now.
“Sanay na ako nasasabihan ng ganun pero hindi ko pa siya tinitignan as a plan as of now. Focus pa talaga ako sa volleyball. Pero kung may dumating na chance, let’s see na lang,” she shared.
If you’ve been following the towering volleybelle on Instagram, you’d have seen by now her print ad-worthy photos where she gets to showcase her long limbs and modelesque bone structure.
While volleyball has claimed her to be one of its next big stars, Baron revealed that modelling was actually her first love.
“Nag model na ako dati nung high school. Sandali lang ‘yun kasi kaka-start ko lang nun tapos lumipat na ako ng Manila. Hindi ko na siya nasulit sa Baguio,” she said.
Talking about the opportunities coming her way in the field, she adds: “In-invite ako mag Fashion Week last time kaya lang hindi ako available kaya hindi ako nakapunta.”
After successfully reclaiming the crown in Season 78, Baron, along with some of her collegiate teammates, will be gracing the forthcoming 2016 Philippine SuperLiga All-Filipino Conference.
But even though her career as an athlete seems to be the wiser pick for now, the Lady Spiker is still looking forward to fulfill her dreams of starring in photo shoots and walking the runway for different brands.
“Kaya nga ‘yung mga post ko sa Instagram ganun. Parang natural lang. Haha!” she quipped.
“It is something I want to pursue in the future. Dream ko talaga maging model before. Bata pa lang ako mahilig na ako mag heels. It’s one of my dreams,” she added.
Asked who she looks up to in the modelling world, she quickly name-dropped one of the younger ‘Kardashians’ who is making a dent in the international scene.
“Ang peg ko talaga si Kendall Jenner kasi parang ang perfect niya. Kahit anong suotin niya model pa din ang dating niya. Gusto ko maging ganun,” she closed. — By Mac Dionisio
