Multi-titled coach Tai Bundit is back in the Philippines to prepare Ateneo for the upcoming ASEAN University Games in Singapore.
Bundit, who has led the Lady Eagles to 2 UAAP championships, told FOX Sports he arrived in the country yesterday from a much-needed break in Thailand to whip his team back to form for the international meet in July.
Hoping to improve on their bronze-medal finish in 2014, the Lady Eagles leave the Philippines on July 9 before embarking on the week-long tilt that ends July 18.
That has shut the door on Bundit’s possible duties with club team Pocari Sweat, which is currently on top of the ongoing 13th Shakey’s V-League Open Conference with a 5-0 record.
Team manager Eric Ty confirmed the development, stressing the need for the coach to prioritize Ateneo.
“This conference sana (he will coach),” he said. “Problema lang, maraming schedule Ateneo so we have to give way talaga.”
Bundit, however, offered a glimmer of hope to fans waiting for him to man the Lady Warriors’ sidelines and said he could be back to coach Pocari Sweat in the Reinforced Conference. — By Josiah Albelda
