F2 Logistics’s Cyd Demecillo will be out for the next 5-6 weeks and will be missing some games in the ongoing 2016 Philippine SuperLiga All-Filipino Conference after going under the knife for a long-term solution to her worsening stress fracture.
This was what the Cebuana lass confirmed to FOX Sports during the club team’s successful debut in the tournament Saturday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan against Cignal HD.
Dun mapupunta ‘yung pressure. Hindi na sa bone ko,” she added, talking further about the procedure. “Mahi-heal ‘yung bone ko and mawawala ‘yung crack.”
Just a couple of weeks back, Demecillo proved to be a vital cog to La Salle’s UAAP campaign when she unleashed her potential in the finals against Ateneo, helping her team bring home the Season 78 crown.
Which is why it came as a surprise when the outside hitter revealed that she was almost excluded from the team’s final roster in the UAAP.
It was the same stress fracture pero ibang parte ng shin.
Being the fighter that she is and embodying the never-say-die attitude of Cebuanas, Demecillo played through the pain with every game becoming more and more of a risk to her pre-existing injury.
It will be remembered that in the tail-end of the eliminations round of the collegiate wars, Demecillo had to be stretchered out of the game venue due to a knee sprain.
According to her, this, too, was caused by her stress fracture.
Iniwas ko kaya ayun,” she recalled.
With the choice to either rest for a long period of time or undergo an operation, Demecillo went for the latter saying it will prevent her injury from aggravating.
On going through the operation a few days before the SuperLiga’s kick off, she says: “Gusto ko maglaro ng volleyball.
— By Mac Dionisio
