“Maglalaro po ako.”
Foton’s Cherry Rondina is sure to be back for their semifinals game against RC Cola-Army after suffering a mild ankle sprain in their last match against F2 Logistics.
Rondina was supposed to block F2’s Mika Reyes but landed on teammate Jaja Santiago’s foot, with the outside hitter falling on the floor and eventually getting taken off the court.
“Pa-wave yung block ko kay ate Mika. Pag land ko, natapakan ko yung paa ni ate Jaja (Santiago). Feeling ko nun kaya ko,” she explained.
“Tapos pagkatapos na ng game, dun ko naramdaman yung pain. As in hindi na talaga ako makalakad. After nun, in-ice ko as in the whole night and day after. As in 2 days nag-ice lang talaga ako tapos binabalance ko. Okay naman. Abot naman daw ako.”
The Tornadoes swept all their opponents in the second round and nabbed the top spot coming into the Final Four. Rondina says it was the much-needed boost Foton was looking for.
“Syempre high morale. Nakatulong po samin na maisip namin na kaya pala namin kasi nung last games namin natalo nila kami sa first round,” she told FOX Sports. “Pray lang kami na walang masaktan and maglaro lang kami as a team. Apply lang namin yung mga tinuro nila coach. Maglaro lang kami as ‘kami’ talaga.”
Though not really in full health when facing the powerhouse Lady Troopers, Rondina promises to give it her all, injury or no injury.
“Di ko maipapangako na makakabalik ako ng 100% physically. Pero in my heart, kakayanin ko, as long as kaya ko,” she ended. — By Joyce Palad
