Pau Soriano was fined and banned by the PSL for playing in the V-League while her contract is running with Navy, but the new Customs spiker isn’t fazed at all.
The former Adamson stalwart, along with Lillet Mabbayad, was penalized Php 50, 000.00 and suspended from playing in the PSL for one year, according to a statement by the latter on Monday night.
Soriano said she wasn’t surprised with the decision.
“Nung lumabas yung lineup, automatic na naka-ban na kami,” she shared after they swept UP in the Reinforced Conference. “Kahit hindi kami maglaro today, naka-lineup kami, banned pa rin kami.”
Soriano and Mabbayad combined for 18 points as the Transformers scored a rather easy 25-23, 25-18, 25-22 victory over the Lady Maroons in a match that saw both squads play without foreign reinforcements.
“Since hindi nakapag-laro yung imports namin, ayaw naman namin na matalo yung team namin sa first game. Gusto namin mag-start kami ng maayos,” she said. “Yung love and concern namin sa team andoon. So come what may, maglalaro kami kasi kailangan kami ng team.”
Soriano added the move was not a secret, sharing they asked permission from Navy team manager Col. Joseph Cuison
“Nagpaalam kami kay Col. Cuison,” she stressed. “Meron naman silang agreement ng attorney po namin dito sa BOC. Yung concern niya kasi is naka-commit kami sa kabilang liga.”
“Willing kami to take that risk. Kasi syempre eto yung choice ko e. Kailangan ko i-face yung consequences ng ginawa kong decision,” she added. — By Joyce Palad
