A resilient Far Eastern University poured everything it got to hammer out a thrilling 21-25, 27-25, 25-20, 23-25, 15-11 victory over Adamson to arrange a do-or-die semifinal match in their PVL Collegiate Conference on Saturday at the FilOilo Flying V in San Juan.
Facing elimination after dropping a 5-set decision in Game 1, the Lady Tamaraws played like a team on a mission behind the leadership of veteran middle blocker Czarina Carandang, who erupted for 20 points behind her 15 attacks.
Carandang also had three blocks, along with two service aces. Lending a hand on FEU’s veteran middle blocker were Toni Rose Basas, who finished with 16 points on 14 kills, while Jeanette Villareal added 10 to help the Lady Tams snap their six-game winning streak. The three more than made up for the absence of Bernadeth Pons and Kyla Atienza, who are currently campaigning for the Lady Tamaraws in the UAAP beach volleyball.
Game 3 is set this Monday with FEU hoping to complete its comeback to reach the Finals.
Adamson sorely missed its own key players in Bernadette Flora and Chrislyn Uy, the Lady Falcons’ representative in the UAAP women’s beach volleyball.
Chiara Permentilla and Ely Soyud led Adamson with 20 points each, while May Roque and Joy Dacoron added 12 points apiece.
