PVL, S+A in talks to televise more volleyball matches

ABS-CBN Sports and Action Channel and Production Head Vince Rodriguez clarified Sunday morning via a tweet that the network and Premier Volleyball League are now in talks on how they can televise more matches after the league and the network received backlash yesterday.

Volleyball aficionados expressed their dismay after the highly-anticipated matches of the first installment of the PVL Reinfonced Conference 2018 On Tour in Tuguegarao were not aired live.

The matches were only available via a “low quality” live streaming at the sport network’s website which, according to most fans, is inconvenient and disappointing considering the tremendous promotions and hype on the conference during off season.

Adding to the heat, the live streaming started 30 minutes late from its scheduled time.

Further, the nail-biting five-setter game between Creamline Cool Smashers and BanKo Perlas Pilipinas was plagued by power interruptions that did not sit well for the fans.

Drama continues as the matches of PVL On Tour Day 2 in the said city later will not be aired live again.

Rodriguez revelead in a tweet that the network and the league has only agreed to televise the opening, semifinals and finals matches of the import-flavored conference.

The elimination round, which is scheduled to run until June 6, will only be available for viewing by accessing the website’s live streaming.

Rodriguez further said that the league and the network are currently working on a solution.

Until further notice, the games can only be watched at https://sports.abs-cbn.com/livestream/pvl
