Creamline makes quick work of Iriga-Navy to end eliminations on a high note

The Creamline Cool Smashers made quick work of Iriga-Navy Lady Oragons, 25-21, 26-24, 25-23 and ended the preliminaries of the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference on a high note, Wednesday, at the Flying V Centre in San Juan.

With the victory, the Cool Smashers took hold of the first spot with 6-1 win-loss card.

Skipper Alyssa Valdez topscored Creamline side with 19 points while Jema Galanza chipped in 14 points off 11 attacks, two blocks, and an ace.

Down by as much as three in the latter part of set two, the Cool Smashers rallied back and scored five-straight points, capped by back-to-back errors from the Lady Oragons, and an ace by Jema Galanza, 25-24. A Kuttika kill eventually handed them the set, 26-24.

Looking demoralized, the Lady Oragons could not find their rhythm in the third as the Cool Smashers zoomed to an early 8-1 behind Alyssa Valdez’ strings of aces.

Iriga-Navy rallied back and took the lead, 11-12, but Creamline immediately regained momentum as Valdez took over the scoring spree, 16-13.

Feisty as they are, the Lady Oragons tied the set again at 21 and 23 before Risa Sato connected with a well-placed quick to end the match, 25-23.

For the Iriga-Navy side, American imports Macy Ubben and Lauren Whyte combined for 32 points in a losing fashion. The loss sent them with 1-6 slate to end the preliminaries.
