Days before the national team flies to Japan, libero Dawn Macandili revealed that she will miss the two-week training as she was tied up with academic commitments.
The national team, led by skipper Aby Maraño, Alyssa Valdez and Jaja Santiago, will undergo an intensive training in Japan as preparation for the forthcoming Asian Games 2018 in Indonesia on August 18 to September 2.
Macandili will have to skip the training, to be held at Okayama, Japan from August 5 to 16, in order to complete her academic requirements, most especially her undergraduate thesis in De La Salle University.
Macandili is determined to finish her term, which is extended until August 22, this month so she could give her 100 percent focus on volleyball and the national team.
The prized libero, though, promised that she would be on top shape when the national team march to the Asiad as she promised to train here in the Philippines instead.
This is the second time Macandili missed a national team activity this year as she also skipped one of their tuneup matches in the recently concluded 2018 Chooks-to-Go Philippine Superliga Invitationals Cup.
