Every wonderful journey has to end at some point, and even Sisi Rondina knows this.

The three-time UAAP Beach Volleyball champion and MVP Rondina couldn’t help but feel emotional with her time donning the UST Golden Tigress jersey on the sand court, which is coming to an end in a matter of two weeks.

In a short interview, the 21-year old Rondina, who is playing her final year, revealed that she feels emotional with her days playing for UST already counted.

“Pinapanuod ko kasi ‘yung ano ko e, mga videos ko first year hanggang last year. Napapaiyak na lang ako kasi ngayon na lang ‘yung year. Ngayon na lang ‘yung year para maglaro ako sa UST,” a teary-eyed Rondina shared.

The Cebu native’s beach volleyball career is nothing short of successful.

Rondina, a rookie then, paired up with Rica Rivera to win the UAAP Season 77 title for UST, outlasting DLSU’s Kim Fajardo and Cyd Demecillo in the best-of-three Finals series.

The high-leaping hitter fell short the next season with Fajardo and Demecillo giving La Salle its first beach volleyball title.

She came back stronger, though, as she and Jem Gutierrez (UAAP 79) and Caitlyn Viray (UAAP 80) bagged the two previous editions’ trophies against FEU’s Bernadeth Pons and Kyla Atienza.

This year, Rondina is determined to finish her UAAP beach volleyball career with yet another championship title for her university.

Rondina and young spiker Babylove Barbon, her partner this year, are still undefeated in three outings as they shoot for a historic three-peat for UST.

The duo opened their campaign with a 21-12, 21-12 demolition on UP’s Isa Molde and Justine Dorog yesterday at the SM Sands by the Bay.

Rondina and Barbon overpowered Ponggay Gaston and Jules Samonte of Ateneo, 21-9, 21-15, before defeating DLSU’s Mich Morente and Tin Tiamzon, 21-14, 21-14, Tuesday for an immaculate 3-0 record.

They are still yet to clash with fellow unbeaten NU and familiar rival FEU, but basing on their early performances, the pair from España is a strong finals contender.

And although she feels sad that her UAAP beach volley career, now, more than ever, Rondina is geared up to banner UST one last time.

“Sad pero siyempre mas maganda kapag maibigay namin ‘yung titulo sa UST,” Rondina closed.
