PVL: Ateneo takes on winless Iriga, Adamson this weekend

PVL-Ateneo Lady Eagles

The Ateneo-Motolite Lady Eagles are booked against two hapless squads this weekend as they look to bounce back from their previous loss in the Premiere Volleyball League (PVL) Open Conference 2018.

The Lady Eagles will battle Iriga-Navy Lady Oragons on Saturday before heading to a collegiate clash with Adamson Lady Falcons on Sunday, both slated at 4 p.m.

Coming off a straight set demolition from BanKo Perlas Spikers, 25-27, 19-25, 11-25, the Ateneo-Motolite are looking to recover from the loss and improve their win-loss 2-1 card.

The Oliver Almadro-led squad will be relying heavily on tophitter Kat Tolentino, who dropped 11 hits the last timeout.

The towering hitter Tolentino has already racked up 53 markers built on 43 kills, eight kills and two aces, averaging 18.33 hits per game.

The Fil-Am spiker is expected to draw support from skipper Maddie Madayag, veteran Bea de Leon, and rookie Vanessa Gandler in carrying the load for the Lady Eagles.

Madayag, who scored 10 tallies last time, is the Katipunan-based squad’s second top scorer as she averages 11.33 points per match, while de Leon and Gandler both scores eight hits per game.

Ateneo-Motolite opened their bid with a pair of strong finishes against veteran teams Pocari Sweat Lady Oragons and PetroGazz Angels before bowing to the Perlas Spikers.
