Madayag comes into Maraño’s defense after basher criticizes NT skipper

Maddie Madayag was quick to defend national team teammate Aby Maraño when a basher criticized the skipper for her skill.

The critic lauded Madayag for her excellent running attack in their friendly match-up versus PSL selection team Shine on Tuesday. On the side, the critic said in jest that with Madayag’s presence in the national team, Maraño can now retire.

“Spread love not hate. We are teammates for a reason. We are there to helo each other and lift each other up. Support nalng po natin yung National Team,” Madayag wrote on her Twitter account.

Maraño earlier addressed the critic, asking there’s a need to compare two different players.

“Ganun ba dapat yun? May problema ba tayo momsh, bakit hilig niyo akong dinidisrespect?” she wrote.

“If you think this is a JOKE for you, well gusto kong malaman mo na hindi ako natutuwa. Gawa naman tayo ng mabuti sa kapwa hindi puro pangungutya. Hindi ko naman kayo kinakalaban, inaagrabyado o inaano. Hindi ko talaga magets bakit ganito kayo? Kung bastusin nyo kami ang dali-dali,” the team captain added.

The women’s national volleyball team is currently having series of tune-up games in the PSL Super Cup against two PSL Selection Teams and a foreign team from Japan, the University of Tsukuba women’s volleyball team.

Headlined by the likes of Kalei Mau, Alyssa Valdez, Jia Morado, Mylene Paat, the national team is set to compete in a four-team competition in the upcoming Southeast Asian Games here in the Philippines, beginning November 3o.
