Petro Gazz coach on perfect record: We target to perform to our best potential

Yet to drop a set so far in the tournament, Petro Gazz Angels head coach Arnold Laniog chooses to redirect their focus in winning their remaining game in the first round and perfecting their craft.

The Angels secured another dominant victory after subduing the Balipure Water Defenders in straight sets, 25-19, 25-12, 25-15, earlier in the 2019 PVL Reinforced Conference at the Filoil Flying V Center.

Petro Gazz played perfect all throughout, displaying offensive mastery and capitalizing on Balipure’s various errors to take the game and stay undefeated in the tournament.

It was a complete team effort for the league-leading team with many players seeing action in the game and contributing points for their cause.

Foreign reinforcements Wilma Salas and Janisa Jonhson delivered anew for the Angels with 12 points each, while middle blocker Jeanette Panaga came through with 11 points.

It was a dominant game for both imports, with Salas recording a high 80 percent attacking efficiency and Jonhson registering an 85 percent digging success.

Petro Gazz completely overpowered Balipure on the offensive end–the Angels registered 39 spikes, seven kill blocks, and five aces compared to the Water Defenders’ 24 kills, two blocks, and one serve.

Even with both their offensive and defensive games on point, Laniog reminded his team to further their level of play and go all out each time they enter the court.

“Madami nang nagsabi niyan, but that’s not our focus every game. Every time we step on the court, ang target naman lagi namin is to perform to our best potential,” Laniog said.

With their win, the Angels stand on top of the team standings undefeated with a perfect 4-0 record.

Already going to their last game of the first round, Laniog hopes his team maintains their productive and competitive mindset all throughout the tournament–working hard for every victory and being willing to correct themselves with each loss.

“Whatever result ang mangyari–kung manalo kami, it’s because pinagtrabahuhan namin. Kung natalo kami, we’re willing to evaluate kung bakit para makabawi kami sa future matches namin,” the head coach ended.
