Angels soar over Perlas Spikers to book first Finals ticket

The sensational run continues for Petro Gazz as it booked the first finals berth for the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference 2019.

The Angels, who finished fifth in last year’s import-laden tourney, are now heading for their first championship appearance after a straight-set semifinals victory over BanKo Perlas Spikers, 25-23, 25-18, 25-17, on Saturday at the FilOil Flying V Center in San Juan.

After a tight opener, Petro Gazz was just relentless in the second and third frame to complete a semis sweep of BanKo and with Wilma Salas and Janisa Johnson leading the onslaught.

Following her 25-point explosion the last timeout, Salas scattered 21 kills and a pair of blocks for 23 points to steer the league’s no. 1 seed.

Johnson had 13 points, 13 digs and 13 reception for another triple-double performance for the winning team.

PetroGazz will face Creamline in the finals as it eye its first ever PVL title.
