BanKo closes in to bronze after showing heart in epic comeback win over Army

BanKo is now a win away from claiming bronze in the Premiere Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference 2019 after an epic five-setter come-from-behind win, 25-27, 10-25, 27-25, 25-23, 15-13, against PacificTown Army, Wednesday at the FilOil Flying V Center in San Juan.

Showing grit and grind, the Perlas Spikers erased a two-set deficit before pulling off huge late set runs in the last three frames to spoil the Lady Troopers’ strong start and inch closer to a podium finish.

With the Army threatening to take home the win, BanKo made a huge 9-1 run to steal the third set after surrendering the lopsided first two sets.

The Lady Troopers have had the second opportunity to seal the deal in the fourth, 23-18, before the Perlas Spikers moved for a 5-point run and forced a decider.

It was a back-and-forth affair in the rubber set, with Army trying to avoid a meltdown and BanKo eventually completing a comeback.

Sutadta Chuewulim starred for the winning team with 15 points, 28 digs and 19 excellent receptions for a triple-double performance.

BanKo looks to seal the medal on Game 2 this coming Saturday.
