Alyssa Valdez and Creamline succumbed to PetroGazz in the Game 2 of the best-of-three Finals of the Premiere Volleyball League (PVL) Reinforced Conference 2019 yesterday.
With this, the Cool Smashers were pushed into a winner-takes-all situation with the Angels today, where they could either go home with their third PVL championship or lose the crown to the latter.
But while the sting of the loss was still fresh, Valdez still managed to meet and make “Tatay Ricky”, one of her numerous fans across the country, happy.

Last Wednesday, a 23-second long video of Tatay Ricky watching a Creamline-BaliPure game at the venue made its rounds on Twitter.
In the clip, which has already reached 248,000 views as of posting time, he was seen wiping his tears as he finally saw his idol in Valdez for the first time — even from afar as he was sitting on upper-situated seats.
Apparently, it was the first live experience for Tatay Ricky, who, according to the uploader, has always contented himself watching Valdez on TV after suffering a stroke.
Sana po makita ko kayo sa susunod na game namin. Maraming salamat po. https://t.co/ShAGtjbqhD

The video caught Valdez’ attention as the outside hitter quote tweeted the video and wrote: “Sana po makita ko kayo sa susunod na game namin. Maraming salamat po.”
And yesterday, much to the delight of everyone who has followed his story, Tatay Ricky finally met Valdez.

Valdez and the Cool Smashers will be back on court later for the all-too important Game 3 of the Finals at the Ynares Sports Center.
