Gonzaga drops 24 markers as Army survives Choco Mucho in five sets

Fatigue is not in Jov Gonzaga’s dictionary.

The wing hitter scored 24 big points to tow Pacific Town Army to second victory after surviving a pesky Choco Mucho, 39-41, 19-25, 25-19, 25-20, 15-12, in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference today at the Filoil Flying V Arena.

This after the Bionic Ilongga played a similar five-set match yesterday with her other club team in the rival league. The outcome is the same, wherein she also was one of the top scorers for her team with 15 points.

Gonzaga chipped in 23 points from attacks and one from the service line to give Army their second victory of the conference.

She, however, is not only effective on offense. Gonzaga likewise delivered goods on the defensive side as she had 26 digs and 16 excellent receptions for a triple-double.

After squandering an 11 point lead in the get-go set and dropping the second set, the Lady Troopers made sure that they will extend the match in five.

Veteran open hitter Nerissa Bautista woke up just in time and scored two down-the-line hits before Mary Grace Berte’s hit did not cross the net, 15-12.
