Tubino tows Lady Troopers back to winning ways after rout of Red Spikers

Halting an alarming three-game skid, PacificTown Army finally snapped out of its funk with a straight-set demolition of Chef’s Classic, 25-18, 25-18, 25-13, on Saturday in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Open Conference 2019 at the FilOil Flying V Center in San Juan.

The Lady Troopers returned to the win column since recording back-to-back victories on August 21, ending a two-week-long drought at the expense of the hapless Lady Red Spikers.

“Siguro sa three-games namin na natalo, ito ‘yung motivation namin. Stepping stone namin ‘tong sa Chef’s Classic. Step by step muna kami for winning [more],” Honey Royce Tubino said as her squad improved to 3-3 tally.

Tubino, who paced the veteran spikers with 11 kills and an ace for 12 points, also said that service was the key in their third set blast where they buried the younger team in a 17-5 hole.

“Siguro ‘yung service namin kinargahan namin sa third set kaya focus muna kami sa receive, services and block muna,” said Tubino.

Failing to capitalize on a three-point advantage in the second frame, Chef’s Classic dropped its sixth straight matches to remain winless at the cellar.

Up next for Army is the struggling BaliPure on September 11 as Chef’s Classic tussles with Air Force tomorrow. Both games will be played at the FilOil Flying V Center.
