Tough blow for Motolite.
The squad might experience a major bump in their title campaign as scoring ace Myla Pablo went down with a foot injury in their straight-set loss, 21-25, 16-25, 26-28, earlier against the Petro Gazz Angels in the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference.
Already gaining rhythm midway into the second set, the open spiker fell down after an awkward spike approach. She was stretchered off the court shortly after.
Pablo will be brought to the hospital after the game, but an initial diagnosis found her injury to be a metatarsal sprain.
Her absence hurt Motolite’s chances to extend their four-game winning streak, proven by her 10-point output before exiting the match in the second set.
For now, head coach Godfrey Okumu will strongly rely on Tots Carlos, Isa Molde, Bern Flora, and veteran setter Iris Tolenada to steer the squad back to the winning column as they face the Banko Perlas Spikers next.
