The absence of Jia Morado and Alyssa Valdez in Creamline’s match against BaliPure was hardly felt as Jema Galanza rose up to the occasion to push the team to their 10th straight victory in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference.
This after the open spiker registered 17 points built from 14 attacks, two aces, and a block to lead Creamline’s offensive arsenals versus the Water Defenders, 25-11, 25-15, 25-17, in the second round of eliminations today at the Filoil Flying V Arena.
Even without Morado, who is fulfilling her duties for the national team, and Alyssa, who is nursing an ankle injury, it was Galanza who carried the scoring cudgels for her team.
Galanza admitted that the absence of Morado and Valdez is a blow for the team, but she is thankful that other members of the team are willing to step up.
For her part, the former Adamson standout said that she makes it a point to listen to the suggestion of her teammates when it comes to her performance.
“Actually, kumukuha ako ng lakas sa mga teammates ko at lagi akong nagtatanong ako kung may problema [ako sa laro]. At nakikinig ako sa kanila at ginagawa ko ‘yung best ko para mag-improve,” she said.
