Petro Gazz burns Chef’s Classics in straight sets, takes eighth win

The Petro Gazz Angels look to seal their Final Four slot after dismantling the Chef’s Classics Lady Red Spikers in straight sets, 25-21, 25-14, 25-12, earlier in the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the Filoil Flying V Center.

After a slow start in the early stages of the opening set, the Angels climbed right back and went to display their usual low-fast game to take the first salvo and the succeeding sets, clinching their seventh consecutive victory of the tournament

Petro Gazz displayed a solid all-around game with their offensive and defensive showing on point, leading on all scoring departments and refusing to give the Lady Red Spikers a single ace while recording eight service points.

Jonah Sabete led Petro Gazz anew with 12 points, while Jovy Prado and Cherry Nunag added 10 each.

With the win, the Angels solidified their hold on second place with an 8-2 record, while Chef’s Classics remain winless with a 0-14 slate.

Petro Gazz looks to clinch their ninth win of the tournament as they face the Pacifictown Army Lady Troopers on Saturday.
