Petro Gazz burns Air Force in straight sets to strengthen Final Four bid

The Petro Gazz Angels edged out the Philippine Air Force Lady Jet Spikers in straight sets, 25-20, 25-15, 25-14, earlier in the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the Filoil Flying V Center.

The Angels relied on their heavy attacking and service game to end their two-game losing skid and officially book their Final Four ticket.

Jonah Sabete led Petro Gazz anew with 15 points, while Jovy Prado added 11.

With the win, the Angels currently stand on solo second with a 10-3 slate, behind the undefeated Creamline Cool Smashers and just in front of the Banko Perlas Spikers and Motolite who keep 10-5 and 9-5 win-loss records respectively to decide the Final Four teams.

On the other hand, the Lady Jet Spikers are officially out of the semifinal race together with the Pacifictown Army Lady Troopers as they both have 6-8 records with two games left.

Petro Gazz looks to strengthen their hold of the second spot as they face the Balipure Water Defenders on Sunday.
