Banko draws first blood over Motolite in bronze medal series

The Banko Perlas Spikers are one step closer to another bronze medal finish after overpowering Motolite in straight sets, 25-23, 25-23, 25-18, in their battle-for-third series in the 2019 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the Filoil Flying V Center.

After tightly-contested first two sets, the Perlas Spikers took over in the third set as their offensive arsenal caught fire at the latter part of the match to take Game One.

It was a balanced effort for Banko with four players finishing in double digits, with Nicole Tiamzon leading the pack with 13 points. Sue Roces and Dzi Gervacio added 11 each, while Kathy Bersola chipped in 10.

On the other hand, Myla Pablo and Tots Carlos spearheaded Motolite’s losing effort with 14 markers each.

The Perlas Spikers failed to enter the finals anew after falling to the Petro Gazz Angels in their semifinal clash.

This conference marks Banko’s fourth consecutive battle-for-third series in the league, with their back-to-back bronze medal finishes in the 2018 season cut short after losing to the Pacifictown Army Lady Troopers in the Reinforced Conference this year.
