PayMaya parades US NCAA alums for PVL comeback

The PayMaya High Flyers are determined to bring some competition in the import-laden conference of the 2018 Premier Volleyball League.

The former PLDT team, now carrying a new name, will be bannered by three-time NCAA MVP Gretchel Soltones together with the core of the 2017 BaliPure Open Conference champs.

Multi-titled head coach Roger Gorayeb will be at the forefront of the newly-installed squad.

The team will bring in two American reinforcements – Tess Rountree and Shelby Sullivan – for their maiden campaign as a revamped squad.

Tess Rountree (Opposite/Outside Hitter)

The Principia College alum Rountree played in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference – an NCAA Division III sanctioned tournament.

She is a two-time SLIAC Player of the Year recipient and four-time All-SLIAC First Team member.

On her final year with the Principia Panthers, she led the conference in kills, blocks and points.

The 24-year old Rountree recently played for the 2018 Swedish Elitserien League champs Engelholms VS.

Shelby Sullivan (Middle Blocker)

Sullivan is a product of Texas A&M University who played in the Southeastern Conference of the NCAA Division I.

The 6-foot-2 defensive gem led the Texas A&M Aggies to the Southeastern Conference title in 2015. She is also a two-time All-Southeastern Conference First Team Member.

Sullivan will be a great mentor to the PayMaya middles which includes the UAAP Season 80 Best Blocker Celine Domingo, Czarina Carandang, Joyce Sta. Rita and Kath Villegas.
