PayMaya dismantles Iriga-Navy in Batangas

The PayMaya High Flyers completed a fourth set comeback en route to a 25-23, 22-25, 25-20, 25-23 victory over the Iriga-Navy Lady Oragons in the preliminaries of the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference, Sataurday afternoon at the Batangas City Sports Coliseum.

American outside hitter Tess Rountree delivered anew to power PayMaya as she fired 24 points built from 20 attacks, two blocks and two aces.

The High Flyers almost squandered the first frame as they gave up four set points before Rountree pummeled a vicious kill to take the set, 25-23.

Rountree and Sullivan scored five and four markers in the opening salvo, respectively.

PayMaya erased a three-point deficit to tie the second set, 20-all. The Lady Oragons capitalized on the miscues of the green-and-white squad as four of their last five points were off PayMaya’s errors, 22-25.

The Roger Gorayeb-mentored PayMaya had a rousing start in the third frame, 8-3. Macy Ubben kept the Lady Oragos afloat but Jer Malabanan provided the goods for PayMaya to take a 2-1 sets advantage, 25-20.

The Lady Oragons were leading late in the fourth canto before Rountree piled up three straight points to even the set, 22-apiece.

A Ced Domingo kill block put PayMaya at match point before Shaira Cabriana committed a service error to close the match in favor of the High Flyers, 25-23.

PayMaya redeemed themselves from their straight-set loss at the hands of Creamline last weekend to take the lead at the standings with a 3-1 win-loss card while the Lady Oragons equalized their record at 1-1.
