Pocari-Air Force overcomes sluggish start to keep Iriga-Navy winless in quarterfinals

Pocari Sweat-Air Force bounced back from an opening set loss to outlast a tough Iriga-Navy side, 23-25, 25-18, 25-20, 25-22, Wednesday night, at The Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Holding a slim 23-22 lead in the fourth set, American open spiker Maddie Palmer scored back-to-back hits to give the defending champions their second straight victory in the quarterfinal round, 25-22.

Following a 23-25 setback in the opening frame, the Lady Warriors regrouped in the second frame and never looked back to spoil another monster performance from Macy Ubben and Lauren Whyte.

Wendy Anne Semana displayed her vintage form as she showed no signs of injury, dishing out 42 excellents sets for a well-balance Pocari-Air Force offense.

The defending champions improved to a 2-0 record to remain on top of the team standings.

The Lady Oragons fell to 0-2 and joined Tacloban Fighting Warays at the bottom.
