Pocari’s defense too much to handle for Creamline

Defending champions Pocari-Air Force Lady Warriors relied on their crisp defense – both at the net and on the floor – to yield the upset ax against top contender Creamline in the Premier Volleyball League Reinforced Conference.

American reinforcement Ari Love led the cause for Pocari as they crushed Creamline in a quick three-set victory, 25-23, 25-11, 25-23, to take game one of their best-of-three semifinals series, Sunday at Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

Lovi tallied 20 points built from 15 attacks, four blocks and one service ace.

The long lay-off seemed to have impacted the Cool Smashers added by an uncharacteristic import change as the team brought in former import Laura Schaudt to replace Nina Asceric.

Alyssa Valdez’s impressive 16-point performance went for naught as she was the lone bright spot for the Creamline in the game.

Pocari pulled off a come from behind victory in the opening salvo. With momentum on their side, everything just fell into place for the Lady Warriors as they punished Creamline with their blocks and serves in the next two sets to pocket the win.
