Petron, Cignal eye strong first round finish against league’s cellar-dwellers

Petron and Cignal are eyeing strong first-round finish in the Philippine Superliga (PSL) All Filipino Conference 2019 when they collide with separate foes tomorrow at the Alonte Sports Center.

With powerhouse D2 Logistics already locked at no. 1 with a blemish-free 7-0 tally, the Blaze Spikers (5-1) aim to secure their hold for solo second against a skidding Sta. Lucia squad at 6 p.m.

The defending champs are coming from a sizzling three-set routing of Generika last Tuesday, 25-18, 25-12, 25-16, where skipper Ces Molina starred with team-high 12 markers.

Riding on a three-game winning streak, Molina will be the helm of the charge alongside veterans Aiza Maizo-Pontillas, Rhea Dimaculangan, and Mika Reyes against the Lady Realtors, who will lean on MJ Phillips, Amanda Villanueva, and Pam Lastimosa to break out of their five-game losing punk.

Similarly, the HD Spikers hope to break its four-game slide when they lock horns with the winless Marinerang Pilipina during the 4:15 p.m. curtain-raiser.

Currently sitting at no. 5 with a 2-4 record, Cignal will rely on Rachel Ann Daquis, Mylene Paat, Alohi Robins-Hardy, and Jovelyn Gonzaga as Judith Abil, Chiara Permenyilla and Dimdim Pacers lead the Lady Skippers.
