Cignal returned to the win column after a quick straight-set pounding against Sta. Lucia, 25-8, 25-16, 25-22, on Saturday in the Philippine Superliga (PSL) All Filipino Conference 2019 at the FilOil Flying V Center in San Juan.
Bouncing back from a stinging five-setter loss against Petron, this time around the HD Spikers made sure to finish the job in three sets and complete a preliminary round sweep of the Lady Realtors.
Alohi Robins-Hardy paced Cignal with 10 hits built on five attacks, four aces and a block while dishing eight excellent sets and 12 digs.
The HD Spikers picked up their fourth victory in nine games while Sta. Lucia absorbed its ninth consecutive loss for a 1-9 tally.

After squandering a two-set advantage the last timeout, Robins-Hardy said Cignal’s game mentality heading into this match was to stay focus from the opening set up to the last.
“I think just court focus. Focus on every point. If we make a mistake, if we didn’t get the point, it’s onto the next,” she said.
Asked on what they did right in this match, the Fil-Hawaiian playmaker said that the HD Spikers were able to execute their game plan, which is to practice accuracy with their attacks and services.
“I think we did well in the service line. Probably one of our best serving matches. So I think we did that,” she said.
Cignal has had a good serving game, producing 11 aces as opposed to Sta. Lucia’s six.
With both teams tallying identical five blocks, the HD Spikers held the advantage in attacks after firing 32 kills compared to 23 of the Lady Realtors, who committed more errors, 12-27.
Cignal’s next assignment is against a hapless Marinerang Pilipina on July 27 while Sta. Lucia faces a struggling PLDT Home Fibr on July 23.
