F2 Logistics advanced to the Finals of the Philippine SuperLiga (PSL) All Filipino Conference 2019, defeating Foton into submission in four sets, 25-19, 25-23, 17-25, 25-19, on Tuesday during the semifinals at the Muntinlupa Sports Complex.
The Cargo Movers weathered the Tornadoes valiant stand and earned their seventh consecutive trip to the Finals behind Kalei Mau’s effort.
Mau led the charge with 13 kills, a pair of blocks, and an ace for 16 points for the reigning silver medalists, who will take on the winner of the semis match between Petron and Cignal in the next stage — where they look to avenge their finals loss last year.
Jaja Santiago’s 20-point output built on 16 kills and four blocks went for naught as Foton bolted out of title contention, falling short of ending a two-year Finals drought.
With errors plagued by Foton, F2 Logistics shrugged off a cold start in the opener and heated up down the latter part with Aby Maraño providing the sparks from the middle.
The Cargo Movers held to a three-point advantage down the stretch in the second, arriving at set point after a Dindin Santiago-Manabat error.
The Tornadoes then managed back-to-back points to chip away rhe deficit, 24-23, before Mau sealed the set with a cross court hit.
With their backs against the wall, the ladies in blue shirts cruised through the third frame, going for a 5-0 start before it ballooned to a 23-15 cushion as the Mau-led squad’s reception sagged.
It was a back-and-forth affair in the fourth up until the 14-13 mark before F2 Logistics blasted to a 6-0 run to take the driver’s seat and never looked back as Foton committed back-to-back errors to give up the game.
