Saving the best for last, Dy steps up in F2’s championship run

For the most part of the Philippine SuperLiga (PSL) All Filipino Conference 2019, Kim Dy has played a rather subpar performance for the F2 Logistics.

Returning from injury, it was obvious that Dy was still trying to get her groove — the form that earned her three UAAP championships and a slot in the national team — back after missing action for months.

In fact, across 16 games from the preliminaries up to the quarterfinals, the opposite hitter accumulated 75 points for a measly five average points per match.

It was her lowest average to date, less than half of her best performance in the league — 11 average hits per game in 2016’s All Filipino.

With this, head coach Ramil de Jesus has utilized at least four players between Dy, Des Cheng, Mich Morente, and even Aduke Ogunsanya to man the right wings.

When it mattered the most, though, the old Dy showed up as stepped up for the Cargo Movers during its three-set conquest of Cignal in the Game 2 of the Finals yesterday.

But while Mau carried most of the load, delivering 19 hits, Dy also played key role as the de Jesus-mentored squad added another PSL title under its belt.

The La Salle standout has accumulated 22 tallies across the championship series, the second most for the ladies in yellow.

In the Finals opener, Dy uncorked nine points built on five kills and four blocks, helping F2 Logistics survive the five-setter scare from Cignal.

Saving the best for the last, she uncoiled nine kills and four blocks for 13 points yesterday.

With her performance, the Cargo Movers managed to sweep the championship series en route to their second All-Filipino Conference title.

Dy and the F2 Logistics now set their sights to the 2019 PSL Invitationals Cup, where they will try to defend their crown whilst aiming for their firth conference championship.
