PLDT Home Fibr made short work of Sta. Lucia in three sets, 25-19, 25-19, 25-13, on Saturday to notch their first win in the 2019 Philippine SuperLiga (PSL) Invitationals Cup at the Ynares Sports Center in Pasig.
Bouncing back from their debut game loss, the Power Hitters finished their second outing in just an hour and 10 minutes, tying their cards to the Lady Realtors’ win-loss 1-1 in Pool A.
Coming off a measly one-point output the last timeout, Jorelle Singh redeemed herself and produced 11 markers off eight kills and three aces to lead the Roger Gorayeb-backed spikers.
For Singh, compared to their previous outing, PLDT displayed better service reception this time around, thus opening up more offensive opportunities for them.
“Kagaya po ng last game, wala po kaming service receive. Nag-focus po talaga kami sa service receive. Tsaka inisip din po kasi namin na [short tournament] lang ‘tong Invitationals so walang panahon para magtumpik-tumpik,” the outside hitter said.
True enough, the Power Hitters were down to one game left in the preliminaries before they plunge into the quarterfinals.
Singh said PLDT needs to be consistent with their reception, communication and net defense as they face Foton next for their final prelims assignment.
“Ituluy-tuloy lang po namin ‘yung ginagawa namin ngayon. Rumeceive kami, communication, tsaka ‘yung blocks ituluy-tuloy lang namin,” she said.
PLDT led Sta. Lucia across all scoring department, holding the advantage in attacks (34-26) and blocks (6-3) while dominating from the service line (10-3).
