Riding on its scintillating debut win, Cignal pocketed its second straight victory after a quick three-set demolition on Foton Tornadoes, 25-18, 25-18, 25-10, Saturday in the 2019 Philippine SuperLiga (PSL) Invitationals Cup at the Ynares Sports Center in Pasig.
The HD Spikers proved too hot to handle for the Tornadoes as they went berserk in the third frame en route to remaining unscathed in Pool A.
Janine Navarro and Roselyn Doria stepped up for the Edgar Barroga-mentored hitters, towing their squad for solo top-seed in their pool.
Navarro scattered 12 points all from kills while Doria managed seven kills, a couple of denials and an ace for a 10-point for Cignal, who looks to close out the first half of the preliminaries with a win against Sta. Lucia on Tuesday.
Foton saw the return of Ej Laure in the fold as her younger sister Eya also suited up all to no avail as the team dropped its second consecutive outing.
The Tornadoes remained as the only hapless squad in the pool with Sta. Lucia and PLDT each touting with a 1-1 card.
Unlike their two intense clashes during the All Filipino Conference, it was a different battle between the two squads this time as Cignal was in control all throughout the 65-minute affair.
After sticking it out in the first two frames, Foton just could not solve the Cignal puzzle in the third, succumbing to the winning team’s dominant performance.
