Petron remained spotless in the 2019 Philippine SuperLiga (PSL) Invitationals Cup as it trashed Generika Ayala in three sets, 25-21, 25-14, 25-20, Monday at the FilOil Flying V Center in San Juan.
The Blaze Spikers picked up where they left off from their debut game victory against F2 Logistics as they made short work of the Lifesavers, staying unscathed in Pool B alongside Pool A’s unbeaten Cignal.
After not seeing action the last timeout, Bernadeth Pons made up for lost time as she amassed 14 tallies built on 12 kills and a couple of blocks.

With head coach Shaq delos Santos constantly switching the team’s starting outside hitters, Pons said she, like the rest of the squad, is always ready to spring into action for Petron.
Per the FEU standout, delos Santos always remind them to be prepared for whatever role they have to play for the squad and to give their 100 percent when inside the taraflex.
“Basta palagi lang kaming nire-remind ni coach na kung sino ‘yung isasalang sa loob palagi lang namim ilabas kung ano ‘yung laro namin. I-enjoy lang namin ‘yung game. Wala kaming iisipin. Basta maglaro kami nang maayos,” she said.
Pons admitted that she and the Blaze Spikers fell short last conference as they didn’t even reach the Finals after getting dethroned by Cignal in the semifinals.
Learning from their mistakes, the outside hitter said they are making their last campaign’s result as fuel for their drive back to promised land this conference.
“‘Yung pagkatalo namin last conference kasama ‘yun sa mga motivation namin ngayon. Kailangan natuto na kami doon sa nangyari last conference kasi alam namin na nagkulang kami kaya natalo kami. Ginagawa namin lahat para makabawi kami,” she said.
