No time for F2 Logistics to rest as semis loom large, Galang says

As F2 Logistics march to the semifinals of the 2019 Philippine SuperLiga (PSL) Invitationals Cup, Ara Galang said there is just no room for them to rest — even against fatigue.

Less than 24 hours from their come-from-behind five-set victory over Generika Ayala, the Cargo Movers returned to court to dismantle Sta. Lucia in three sets, 25-22, 25-15, 25-15, to finish their elimination round campaign on a strong fashion.

Galang scored 10 points off six kills, a pair of blocks and a couple of aces to tow the defending champs to their fifth straight win in six outings en route to eliminating the Lady Realtors from title contention.

Returning Kalei Mau, who missed five-out-of-six games to nurse an Achilles injury, chipped in 11 while Kim Dy and Aby Maraño added 10 and eight for F2 Logistics, who clinched its eighth consecutive semifinals stint.

The Cargo Movers, who had the edge across all scoring areas, only needed 73 minutes to dispatch Sta. Lucia, thus earning themselves more time to rest ahead of their semifinals duel against Cignal on Tuesday.

But while this was the case, Galang said F2 Logistics just could not afford to take a break. Instead, she said the Cargo Movers must continue pushing themselves, especially as they seek to return to the Finals to defend their crown.

“Natural lang ‘yung mapapagod kami e. Siguro mind over matter. ‘Di naman kami p’wedeng i-reason out ‘yung fatigue so kailangan lang push lang namin sarili namin and i-improve namin ‘yung sarili namin,” the reigning MVP said.

Playing 3-out-of-4 playdates this week, F2 Logistics showed little to no sign of weariness when it sweep Sta. Lucia earlier aside from its first set sputter.

After building a huge 18-10 separation in the opener, the Cargo Movers saw a resilient Sta. Lucia squad down the late stretch of the set clipping the gap to just one, 23-22.

But the ladies in yellow quickly reimpose their dominance in the next two, burying the Lady Realtors in a 24-11 hole in the second and a 24-12 deficit in the third.

Galang, who saw scarce minutes in the pilot set giving way for Mau’s return, re-established herself in the last two sets, contributing to F2 Logistics’ winning cause may it be through offense or defense.

This, according to Galang, was just part of her mentality to contribute to her team in any way possible.

“‘Yung kailangan kasi bawat skill ma-improve pa e. Kailangan maka-contribute ka sa team sa kahit saan skill pa ‘yan. So mindset ko, as much as kaya ko, why not, ‘di ba?” she said.

Galang and the F2 Logistics plunge back to action on Tuesday, 5 p.m. at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center against Cignal.
