It is an understatement that Aiza Maizo-Pontillas is one of the most loved local volleybelle in the Philippines.
From her emergence in the collegiate ranks where she played for the University of Sto. Tomas, the lefty opposite hitter took her talents to the national team and different local club teams.
Maizo’s name is almost always synonymous with the word legend as she is known for different monikers – The Closer, The Queen Tigress, and the Scoring Machine.
In today’s finals game in the PSL Invitational 2019 against F2 Logistics, the mother of one proved why she deserves such accolades.
Down two sets to none, the Petron mainstay Maizo-Pontillas stepped up bigtime and led her team to a third and fourth set victory.
Their team, however, lost steam in the fifth set as they succumbed to a more composed F2 Logistics, 22-25, 19-25, 25-17, 25-22, 12-15.
Despite the loss, love and admiration poured for the lefty spiker as fans took to Twitter to praise the gallant stand by the former UST standout.
In five sets, Maizo-Pontillas produced 23 points from 20 attacks, two blocks, and an ace.

I didn’t have the pleasure of watching the Mighty Aiza Maizo Pontillas during her UAAP days but, having witnessed how she took over in the 3rd and 4th sets of this Gold Medal match, now I understand why she is a legend! Respect for @Numero_otso #PSLInvitationals #PSLonESPN5
