3 PSL teams, Japanese squad to compete in Spike for a Cause tourney

Cignal, Generika Ayala and Sta. Lucia will get their mettle tested when they partake in the Mayor Maiksi Super Cup: Spike For A Cause from February 3 to 6 at the Imus Sports Complex.

The three PSL teams will be joined by a visiting team West Japan All Stars in the three-day action which aims to generate donations for the victims of the Taal Volcano eruption.

It will serve as a preview of what action awaits when the highly-anticipated 2020 Philippine SuperLiga (PSL) Grand Prix opens.

This could also be the first time fans will see the revamped squads and their newest acquisitions in action.

Fans only need to bring donations such as sanitary supplies and food to gain entrance and witness the pre-season competition brought by PSL in partnership with the municipality of Imus.

Generika Ayala made a good recruitment coup with Rhea Dimaculangan, Chin Basas, Eli Soyud, and Mina Aganon to replace Fiola Ceballos.

Cignal then acquired the services of Ceballos and former Petron guru Shaq delos Santos following the departure of Mylene Paat and Janine Navarro, who moved to Chery Tiggo.

Mika Reyes will banner the Sta. Lucia squad which will be under the mentorship of newly-minted head coach Eddieson Orcullo.

The Lifesavers and the Lady Realtors will kick off the mini-tournament on Feb. 3 at 2:30 PM before the HD Spikers take on the Japanese team at 5 PM.

Cignal and Generika Ayala will then tussle in the 3 PM curtain-raiser on Feb. 5 followed by West Japan All Stars against Sta. Lucia at 5 PM.

Third and final day will feature the battle between the Lady Realtors and the HD Spikers at 3 PM and the Lifesavers’ match against the Japanese spikers at 5 PM.
